Beni is a red pigment contained in minute amount in safflower petals. Beni has charmed people with its vivid color and, since ancient times, been used in dyes and makeup goods, paint, etc..
Beni Museum is a museum run by Isehan, the last Beni shop founded in 1825 during the late Edo period. The permanent exhibition rooms introduce the method of making Beni, customs related to Beni, and the history of Japanese makeup. This time, a guided tour with English interpretation will be held for foreign persons. After the guided tour, you can enjoy applying traditional rouge Komachi-beni and watch a demonstration of how to make Beni dyed traditional Japanese sweets by the confectionery craftsman of “ICHIROAN” that founded in 1903.

紅とは、紅花の花びらにほんの僅か含まれる赤色色素のことです。古より、紅はその鮮やかな赤色で人々を魅了し、染料や化粧品、絵具などに使われてきました。
紅ミュージアムは、江戸時代後期の文政8年（1825）に創業した最後の紅屋「伊勢半」が運営する資料館です。常設展示室では、紅づくりの技や紅にまつわる習俗、日本の化粧の歴史について紹介しています。今回は、外国人を対象とした、英語通訳つきのガイドツアーを実施します。ガイドツアー後は、伝統的な口紅「小町紅」を塗る体験や、明治36年（1903）創業の「一炉庵」の職人による紅染め和菓子作りの実演をお楽しみいただけます。
